Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Maine Elects New State President

PORTLAND, METhe Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Maine elected Gary R. Jordan Jr. of Pittsfield, Maine as their new State President at their annual dinner meeting held at the Holiday Inn West in Portland on June 10, 2009.  The Association is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) based in Washington, D.C.-with over 200,000 members whose mission is to enhance the climate for housing and the building industry. Chief among NAHB’s goals is providing and expanding opportunities for all consumers to have safe, decent and affordable housing. 

Jordan works as Manager of Engineering-Design & Technical Services for Northeastern Log Homes, Inc. in Kenduskeag, Maine and has been involved in engineering and designing of residential and commercial projects for the past 26 years throughout the United States.  Jordan has trained Home Inspectors on log and timber frame home inspections and has been involved in speaking to national code agencies and committees on the construction of log structures.   Mr. Jordan has been involved in many aspects of town government including Chairman of the Planning Board and 4 years as a Mayor. He served 5 years as Chairman of the Building Construction Technology Advisory Committee for Eastern Maine Community College located in Bangor.  Jordan also is a licensed realtor in Maine and belongs to the National Association of Realtors.

Jordan, in his first address to the Association said education will be a focus.  For consumers it’s about affordable home construction, green choices and proper financing for their home.  For Builders, the Association will develop and be the source for learning and training for the Maine Uniform Building & Energy Code.  Jordan will also be developing avenues to get into schools throughout the State to let students know the types of opportunities in the construction field.
